  • The AMP version is a blog posts page and google is quite correct – there is no similarity. You need to make a static home page which is at least similar. The best way I have found to do this is to make a new page. I think you should do the same as you have a slider etc on your home page and that is going to make things complex.

    Process:

    1. Go to your home page and set the show amp to current page in the sidebar to ON
    2. Define a new page – call it for example WELKOM OP DIT REISBLOG! FIJN DAT JE ER BENT or whatever makes sense as the main title of your page.
    3. Make the permalink url /amp-home/ or whatever you like.
    4. Enter contents into the AMP editor box which render a page similar to your home page (without slider) and click the checkbox to make it use that info on top of the editor. You don’t need to enter content into the normal editor (leave it blank). Put in a featured image. Set the display AMP in the sidebar to HIDE.
    3. Go to your AMP admin panel – turn on front page, use title, etc but set the home page to amp-home (basically your WELKOM OP DIT REISBLOG! FIJN DAT JE ER BENT page).

It is a tricky process but this is an outline of how I have done it.

Finally do check in the WP admin -> settings – reading that you have your static home page defined and your posts page set correctly.

    Yes, that works. Thanks!
Nevertheless, I’ve decided to turn amp off just for the homepage, just because I think it looks nicer that way 🙂
