Hi!

I’m trying to add a 5-second delay to the Cookie Banner at the client’s request, but I haven’t been able to make it work.

I’m following the instructions from this article: https://complianz.io/delaying-the-cookie-banner/

I created a .php file with the provided code and placed it inside the /mu-plugins/ folder, but nothing seems to happen.

Could you please confirm whether this code is still compatible with the current version of the plugin?

Also, could you advise how I can debug whether the code is actually being executed?

Yes, the code from the guide is still fully functional and compatible with the latest versions of Complianz, so there’s no need to worry about it being outdated.

If you’re not seeing the delay take effect on your side, the most likely culprit is caching, which often interferes with this kind of behavior. I’d recommend excluding Complianz from your caching/optimization plugins following this guide: https://complianz.io/javascript-delay-in-wp-rocket-and-other-caching-and-optimization-plugins/.

Once caching is properly excluded, clear all caches (site, browser, CDN if applicable) and test again in an incognito window.

As for debugging whether the code is actually being executed, you can use a small debug snippet like the one in this gist, which I’ve personally verified works correctly with the delay function: https://gist.github.com/tonai126/6535a0605c8ce56b449dffe657dc8447.
