# Cookie Scanner doesn’t work

 * Hi all,
 * I’ve just installed the plugin on my website, when i go into the cookie scanner
   section to start the scan i get this error message and it doesn’t let me start
   the scanning:
 * **Could not load the cookie scan. Scanning does not work on local servers**
 * Anyone can help?

 * Could you please confirm your website is not hosted from a local server? The 
   cookie scanning feature will not work locally as it uses a service from CookieYes
   to scan the cookies.

 * Since you are getting this error message from a publicly hosted site, please 
   save [this code](https://gist.github.com/webtoffee-git/21188723d2f63b5bbd065c3b02a767de)
   snippet in your site’s active child themes functions.php. In the code please 
   replace ‘HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR’ with ‘REMOTE_ADDR’.
