 * I’m using the default core WordPress blocks only: Hero, Cover, Stack, Row, Group,
and Columns. I’m running into a layout issue where vertical alignment and height
behavior do not work as expected.
 * Example:
    - Parent Hero is set to 500px height
    - Inner Cover is set to 100% height, but it does not fill the Hero
    - Changing vertical alignment on nested containers often does nothing
    - In some cases, setting everything to top/middle/bottom still does not move
      the final inner object
    - Setting fixed px heights works, but percentage height does not behave as expected
 * I need to understand whether this is expected behavior, a limitation of nested
core blocks, or a bug in the block editor/layout system.
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fcore-block-alignment-issue%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * Hi, this issue might be related to block settings or theme compatibility.
 * Try checking the alignment options within the block settings and make sure your
theme supports full-width or wide alignment. Also, clearing cache or updating
your theme and plugins may help resolve the issue.
 * If the problem continues, you can test with a default theme like Twenty Twenty-
Five to see if the issue persists.

 * Thank You for your reply. Ive made some progress. So the inner columns will not
move up or down with alignment because the top parent hero group is forcing the
inner columns or rows to use its own alignment and shrinking the rows or columns
to content size. is there a way to turn the parents alignment off? Or a setting
that allows children to use its full height?
