Create custom drop downs – wp-admin

Good afternoon,

I have created a custom post type ‘news’ and wanted a drop down menu in the wp-admin post whereby you can select the author via a dropdown.

Its kind of like tagging / taxonomies but i want to populate it with a custom post entries all ready in the system.
