 * Hello!
 * I’m not sure if this is the right forum to use so please direct me elsewhere
   if it is not. I am part of a non-profit and we have switched to WordPress last
   May. I currently have a membership database in MS Access and I am looking for
   a way to link to it on our site so board members can look up members and membership
   status. I am also willing to create a new database if required.
 * The only plugin I can find is ‘Participants Database’ which does most of what
   I want, but is there a better solution?
 * Thanks.
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fcreate-link-to-a-database%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)
   to see the link]_

 * There are a number of membership plugins. Which ones would be best for you would
   depend on your specific criteria. You can tryout a few of them using a small
   sampling of members for trial purposes. Any minor shortcomings can likely be
   corrected through some custom work. Identify the best overall fit and go from
   there.
 * I don’t think maintaining members in Access is going to be a good solution, if
   it’s even possible. You will be better served importing the data into a WP table
   that fits however your selected plugin maintains data. Depending on what that
   is, there might be an import plugin available to manage the import. The chances
   of finding a compatible import app are greater if the Access data is first exported
   into a common format like CSV.
 * If all else fails, a custom PHP script that imports CSV data into a WP table
   could be developed. Whatever process is used, it should be a one time process.
   Maintaining the data will then be done through a WP interface. Access will no
   longer be part of the equation. What must be avoided is maintaining data in two
   different places and attempting to keep them synchronized.

 * Thanks for the advice. I started thinking along the same lines so I’m going to
   test a plugin and see if I can make it do what I want. If not, I’ll try another.
 * Thanks.
