I want to second the request made in this entry:
    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/request-set-wordpress_test_cookie-only-on-login-screen/
The original response to this request was not satisfactory – amounting to “do it yourself” when it relates to a basic core piece of functionality.

The wordpress_test_cookie is created every time someone visits a wordpress website. There appears to be no need for this unless the visitor also wants to login to the site.
Suggest that this cookie not be placed unless the visitor opens the login page.
This is to make GDPR adherence simpler.

  • Did you not read to the end of the post?

Test Cookie is only set by wp-login.php so is only set on a page with a login form, if you don’t have a login form on your front end then the cookie is not set ( by standard core WP ).

I have just double checked the OP comment and confirm that is the only place.

    Hi Alan,
    thanks for your reply.
I had tested with a browser where I had previously visited the login page, so the cookie was present and open.
I cleared cookies and tried again, not visiting the login page and confirm no cookie was created.
Apologies for creating a spurious post.

No problem. No need to apologise 🙂
