 * I am trying the free version of the plugin, but I get a critical error every
   time I try to include a new source.
 * `**WP RSS Aggregator** has encountered a critical error. The safest course of
   action is to deactivate the plugin and any of its add-ons on this site using
   the button below. Once you’ve done that, you may reactivate them and start using
   the plugins again. If the problem persists, please copy the below error and send
   it to our support team with an explanation of when and how it happened.`
 * `**Error Message:**
   Undefined constant "SimplePie\CURLOPT_TIMEOUT" (wp-includes/
   SimplePie/src/SimplePie.php:957)
 *  `**Stack trace:**

 * Hi [@marbaque](https://wordpress.org/support/users/marbaque/)
 * Thank you for reaching out! The error message you’ve shared:
 * `Undefined constant "SimplePie\CURLOPT_TIMEOUT"`
 * points to an issue with the SimplePie library, which Aggregator uses to process
   RSS feeds. This kind of error can happen due to a compatibility glitch, a conflict
   with another plugin, or an issue with your site’s setup. Here’s what I recommend
   to get things working again:
    1. **Deactivate and Reactivate the Plugin:** Go to your WordPress dashboard, deactivate
       WP RSS Aggregator, then reactivate them. This can sometimes clear up temporary
       issues or reset things.
    2. **Look for Plugin Conflicts:** Temporarily turn off all other plugins except
       WP RSS Aggregator. Then, try adding a new source again. If it works, turn your
       plugins back on one by one to find out which one might be causing the problem.
       We highly recommend performing this on a staging, local, or development version
       of your website to avoid any disruptions to your live site.
    3. **Make Sure Everything’s Up to Date:** Check that your WordPress core, themes,
       and all plugins are running the latest versions. Outdated software can sometimes
       lead to errors like this.
 * If you try these steps and the error persists, I’d be happy to dig deeper. Could
   you please share a few more details?
    - The RSS feed URL you’re trying to add.
    - A list of the active plugins on your site.
    - Your WordPress and PHP versions.
    - Your PHP error logs. This will give us more details about what’s going wrong.
 * **A Quick Workaround**
 * While we sort this out, you could try adding a different RSS feed to see if the
   issue is specific to the one you’re using. If other feeds work fine, there may
   be something unusual about that particular feed.
 * Thank you for your patience—I’m confident we can get this sorted out for you.
   Please let me know how these steps go or if you need any more help.

 * Thank you [@hendcorp](https://wordpress.org/support/users/hendcorp/). I tried
   deactivating the plugin. I deactivated other plugins as well and I still get
   the same error.
 * I used different RSS sources, with the same result. Also, used the importing
   too import an OPML file, it seems to work, but when I enter one of the sources,
   I get the same error.
 * Im using Twenty Twenty-Three (twentytwentythree) theme

 * Hi [@marbaque](https://wordpress.org/support/users/marbaque/)
 * Thank you for the update and for the troubleshooting steps you’ve already taken,
   I really appreciate your efforts! Let’s dive a bit deeper to resolve this issue
   for you.
    - **Check Site Health**: Go to Tools > Site Health > Info > Server and share
      your PHP and cURL versions. (If cURL isn’t listed, ask your host to enable
      it.)
    - **Reinstall Plugin**: Since deactivating didn’t fully resolve the issue, let’s
      try a fresh start. Deactivate and delete WP RSS Aggregator, reinstall it from
      the WordPress plugin directory, and then try adding a source again.
    - **Check Error Logs**: If the issue persists, check your PHP error logs in
      your hosting panel (e.g., cPanel or Plesk) or ask your host to provide them.
      Once you have the logs, please share them with us so we can analyze the issue
      further.
    - **Share RSS Sources:** Since different sources gave the same result, could
      you share the RSS feed URLs you’re trying? I’d be happy to test them on my
      end.
 * Let me know what you find, and we’ll keep troubleshooting together. Thanks for
   your patience—I’m here to help!

 * Thank you, it is solved. Our technology guys fixed it on the server. So, not
   a plugin issue. That said, the plugin was showing misleading error messages and
   instead of saying that it’s missing the curl dependency, it wrongly said that
   the feed that we’re trying to use is malformed.
