 * I have been using JetPack and my site has been experiencing down times, which
JetPack notified me of. I am working with my host as there have been brute force
attacks as well, so I assumed it was this, rather than JetPack. Today my site
was down and I contacted them. However, in the mean time, I tried deactivating
JetPack, the site loaded fine. I then reactivated and set up JetPack and my site
went down again. I deactivated, and it’s working. I am using the free version
so unable to contact support directly to investigate further. Until I find out
what is wrong I guess I won’t be using the plugin.
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fcritical-error-when-running-plugin%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * Hi [@lottieveronica](https://wordpress.org/support/users/lottieveronica/)
 * Can you please try to completely delete the Jetpack plugin and reinstall it?
 * If your site still immediately going down after activating Jetpack, it’s likely
   causing an Internal Server Error.
 * Internal server errors (error 500) are often caused by plugin or theme function
conflicts, so if you have access to your Dashboard, try deactivating all plugins
except Jetpack. If you don’t have access to your admin panel, try manually resetting
your plugins (no Dashboard access required).

 * If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find which
   plugin is conflicting with Jetpack.
 * If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the [Twenty Twenty](https://wordpress.org/themes/twentytwenty/)
theme to rule out a theme-specific issue.
 * If you weren’t able to resolve the issue by resetting your plugins and theme,
we may be able to help, but we’ll need a more detailed error message. Internal
server errors are usually described in more detail in the server error log. If
you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the
date and time, then immediately check your server error log for any errors that
occurred during that specific time period. If you don’t have access to your server
error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you.
