 * the link where the stylesheet should be, [http://www.elgincitychurch/blog/wp-content/themes/simplewhitewp/style.css](http://www.elgincitychurch/blog/wp-content/themes/simplewhitewp/style.css)
results in a ‘server nor found’ error message.
maybe the theme is not installed
properly. did you get any error messages during the install?
 * as this is a commercial theme, you may need to check this with the theme seller.

 * umm no errors that I know of. I just took the home.html file that was given to
me and changed it to index.php. I uploaded the index.php files along with the.
css files and images up to the theme folder in wp. I activated the theme in wp
backend and changed the href css links to find the path the files are located.
hope that makes sense. did I miss something?
 * not sure what being a commercial theme has to do with anything.

 * if you buy somthing that is not working or not explained properly to get it to
work, it is the seller’s job to put this right.
 * can you find the style.css of your theme at this location:
if not, you may either need to change the link, or reconsider your directory/
   folder structure.

 * Some of this is _not_ standard procedure for WordPress, such as taking “home.
html” and renaming it as “index.php”, changing CSS link hrefs, etc.
 * > not sure what being a commercial theme has to do with anything.
 * Because, being a commercial Theme, we don’t have access to the template files,
to be able to provide assistance. Also, as a matter of principle, most people
who volunteer support don’t want to act as free-support-by-proxy for commercial
Theme developers, who get paid to develop – **and to support** – their Themes.

 * ok so can someone simply explain how to integrate a purchased wp theme and activate
it properly? If the theme is created by my friend what files should they provide
me with to be able to have a successful install?
 * Basically, I’ve been given a blog design in html format that I would obviously
like to use with the wp system. I guess I figured it would be easy as changing
the extension to php and uploading to the theme directory in my wp files.

 * I would suggest hiring out some help to develop/transfer the old design into
a wordpress theme or just purchase a theme online.

 * that would be something like:
 * > I’ve been given a blog design in html format
 * this is different, and apart from searching the web for tutorials, the link that
[@chip](https://wordpress.org/support/users/chip/) Bennett provided, is a good
   starting point.
 * reasonable html and basic php skills are neccessary.

 * sadly converting html layouts or .psd files to wordpress themes isn’t as easy
   as renaming the file extension.
