 * I added the awesome-support\css\style.css to my theme but it won’t change the
   style. For testing i added register.php to the awesome-support directory and 
   made a change and that worked. ??

 * You won’t be able to load a stylesheet. This is only used for built-in themes.
   If you want to customize the style for your specific theme integration, you will
   need to manually enqueue it using WordPress function. You can also disable the
   plugin built-in stylesheet by unchecking it in the style settings if needed.
