How can I have a text_datetime_timestamp field that will automatically be set with the current date/time when creating new entries? (like a kind of log)

Ideally, this field should not be editable/visible on the metabox but rather set automatically when saving new entries. Current entries should keep their timestamp values.

The group will have other regular fields that should be filled in normally by the user.

You should be able to achieve something like this with the default common property https://github.com/CMB2/CMB2/wiki/Field-Parameters#default plus passing a “readonly” attribute via https://github.com/CMB2/CMB2/wiki/Field-Parameters#attributes

Alternatively, you could use https://github.com/CMB2/CMB2/wiki/Field-Types#hidden to utilize a hidden field and see if that can save a field for you.

I think I’ll have to hook into the saving of the field itself.

Using the default property will, of course, allow me to set me current date/time of when the post edit screen is loaded but not the date/time when it’s actually saved. Not that it’s likely to be a big difference, but the user can take quite some time to fill in the information before hitting save.
Maybe I can just set it via javascript when hitting the “update post” button.
