custom css box not working.. I put some code there but nothing changes..how to use that custom css? I want to change background color..any help would be highly appreciated.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems as this might be a conflict with your theme or additional plugins.
However, a quick workaround would be to apply the custom css directly into your theme’s style.css field and this should help making changes abit easier if you add your additional custom css at the bottom of your theme style.css.

Depending on the theme developer, of course, but some themes still overwrite files and mess up changes we’ve done.
