# Custom Fields for Comments?

 * WordPress has the ability to allow **post authors** to assign custom fields to
a **post**. That’s done from within the admin panel, after login in as an author.
 * Is there an equivalent to allow **comment authors** (without login in) to fill
in custom fields of a **comment**?

 * No. Currently comments are not provided any sort of ‘meta-data’ akin to that
   of posts and authors.

 * Is there a particular reason why META data is not added? Is this a feature that
could be developed as a plugin?
