# Custom Permalink Structure

 * i have a site where has two parts one home page and other is the separate blog
   page.
 * I need custom permalink for blog like below.
    Blog has some category like business,
   cricket. whenever a user click the category link the link should be like [http://domain.com/blog/business](http://domain.com/blog/business)
   And whenever click on the particuler post then permalink should be [http://domain.com/blog/sample-post-1](http://domain.com/blog/sample-post-1)

    Set category base to `.` (just a 
   dot).

   and Site Address (URL)?

 * Is WordPress installed in the root (domain.com/) or in the subdirectory domain.
   com/blog?
 * — in root not in a subdirectory.
 * What settings are you using under Settings – General for WordPress Address (URL)
   and Site Address (URL)?
 * — Home and Blog Static Page Option that means home and blog page separate.
 * Do you use the option to have the blog published on a static page under Settings–
   Reading? (It is possible to create an empty page with the name and address “blog”
   and make the blog visible there using this setting.)

 * Then I believe you should:
    1. Create an empty page named “blog” with the slug`
   blog` 2. Under Settings – Reading put the blog on this static page 3. Set permalink
   structure to `/blog/%postname%/` 4. Set category base to `/blog/` 5. Hope for
   the best that nothing weird happens when several settings point more or less 
   in the same direction. (What would happen if a post title coincides with one 
   of the category titles, for instance…
