# Custom Permalink Structure = mod_rewrite ?

 * I’m not clear from the Codex whether using “Custom Structure” Permalinks (under
   Permalinks/Custom Settings) in v2.7 is the same as “mod_rewrite” permalinks requiring
   Apache?

   Docs.
 * Pretty Permalinks need mod_rewrite (or for IIS some extra DLLs i believe). Without
   mod-rewrite you can do Default or “Almost Pretty” instead.
