I am new to WordPress. I have taken over a bunch of WordPress sites that use the Custom Post Type UI. I have one site that recently stopped displaying the posts for the two pages for the custom posts. This site has not had any changes in the past few months that I know of other than updating to the latest WordPress version, Plugin versions and Theme version. I have deactivated and reactivated all plugins. I can’t figure this out. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

When you say “not showing up” are you referring to the permalink now showing a WordPress 404 page? or maybe just parts of the page not showing like it should have been?

Do you have public URLs you could provide that I can check out quick?

The pages are just blank. The url is https://nano.indiana.edu/publications/ . The other page is instruments.

If I go to the individual slugs they still work fine. https://nano.indiana.edu/publication/synthesis-of-monodisperse-high-entropy-alloy-nanocatalysts-from-coreshell-nanoparticles/

At least from what I’m seeing, https://nano.indiana.edu/publications/ is a standard page, probably named “publications”, but looks like it doesn’t have any content to it. Meanwhile I’m also guessing you have the post type named “publications” and possibly set to have an archive, which would then be clashing a little with that page.

That is correct except there is no archive.

Is this not the way to do this?

Well, it depends on what you’re trying to do. It sounds like you’re wanting https://nano.indiana.edu/publications/ to be a post type archive, but don’t have it set up to be that. Instead it’s a page that has no content at the moment.

It did have all of these posts and then they disappeared.

Not sure what to suggest then, unless settings got changed for the post type registration. Perhaps it did have the archives setting previously? Otherwise it’s likely something with the theme or perhaps other plugins included that were displaying things at that URL.

We don’t have any settings that do extra around display on a site’s frontend, so there’s not really a lot of settings I can suggest checking for CPTUI.
