 * Thanks for posting this, I have never used Custom Posts while I use a lot of 
   Categories. If I might ask, what do you use Custom Posts for? Thanks for making
   me aware of this option.

 * The plugin supports standard WordPress post type “Post” only. But there is a 
   solution: [Ultimate Post List Pro (in my online shop)](https://shop.stehle-internet.de/downloads/ultimate-post-list-pro/)
   supports custom post types and even custom taxonomies as filter options. You 
   can try it with the free [Ultimate Post List (in tne WP repo)](https://wordpress.org/plugins/ultimate-post-list/).
   If you like it you can go Pro.
