# custom sidebar help

 * I’m new to customising wordpress
 * I want to use it as primarily a static site but with a news page.
 * I have created a news category for posts that will be posted to the “news” page.
   On my sidebar, I would like to have a link to each of the posts (linked by post
   name) in the news category and if possible, for the first link only, the first
   part (up to the “more” code) of the post.
 * What I have in mind is something like this if it makes it easier to understand
   what I’m getting at.

 * Use `get_posts()` for that.

   If you follow the example but don’t want the excerpt for each post, just take
   that function out.
