 * Hi there,
 * I love your plugin. Thank you for creating it!
 * One issue I am running into is the Customizer not working. I thought it might
   be a js conflict but then found this (below) in a support thread (not for this
   plugin).
 * So I think I might need to ask my host (Dreamhost) to whitelist admin-ajax.php
   for the subdirectory that contains the staging site. Does that sound right to
   you. Is there anything else I should whitelist/try?
 * Thanks,
 * Alice

 * “See my previous post. Thought I’d post the final notes from my support tech
   here to benefit someone whom might want to know the exact rules that needed to
   be whitelisted (at least in my case):
 * […] based on the Apache error log the mod_securoity rules need to be whitelisted[
   for your primary domain].
 * However, for the domains [yourdomain].com and [yourotherdomain].com we had listed
   the rules 950904, 950905, 950906
 * (sic)
 * I think the reason additional rules were whitelisted was that I had WP installed
   in subdirectories on these specific domains. The support tech suggested others
   experiencing the same issue should…
 * …provide the complete steps to replicate the error so that we can check the error
   logs and then whitelist accordingly.
 * As far as providing the steps to replicate the error, before clicking “Publish”
   on the Customize panel, I opened the Chrome Developer (Inspector) tool and provided
   my support rep the details of the error message I observed in the console tab.
   One thing I noticed is that [http://[mydomain].com/%5Bmysubdirectory%5D/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php](http://[mydomain].com/%5Bmysubdirectory%5D/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php)
   appeared to reference [http://[mydomain].com/%5Bmysubdirectory%5D/wp-admin/load-scripts.php](http://[mydomain].com/%5Bmysubdirectory%5D/wp-admin/load-scripts.php).
   This information aided the support tech in identifying the rules to be whitelisted”

 * Hi Alice [@gatehousedesign](https://wordpress.org/support/users/gatehousedesign/)
 * Usually, the file admin-ajax.php should never be blocked by any hosting provider,
   if they do this you should ask them to unblock this file.
 * First of all, you need to find out if the admin-ajax.php is blocked or if it’s
   just a regular javascript error.
 * To do so open the Google Chrome console by pressing F12. Then go to the network
   tab and open the customizer of the staging site.
 * Do some changes and try to save them. Then watch out carefully if you see any
   red colored items there.
    If nothing is red it should be looking like that one
   [http://take.ms/MXwu8](http://take.ms/MXwu8)
 * If there are some items red, please let me know the names of them. You get more
   information when you hover with the mouse over them.
 * Next, open the tab Console and reload the optimizer page. If there are red-colored
   lines please create a screenshot of them for me. Anything red here is mostly
   some kind of javascript error.
 * Who is your hosting provider?

 * Thanks for your quick reply. The customizer started working again. I have no
   explanation as to why. Possibly a plugin conflict. Not sure. Anyway I am enjoying
   using the staging plugin. Thanks.
