 * Customization of form elements is extensive but I can’t seem to alter some attributes
   and I hope you can help.
    1. Field Error message – Can’t seem to change the font size or colours of field
       error messages from pink background, red font and tiny print.
    2. Dropdown and field focus background – Can’t seem to change or eliminate grey
       background for focused fields nor some dropdowns such as the hour-minute-am/
       pm. I managed to do that for the Workshop Topic dropdown option list but not
       for the chosen option – that is still grey background.
    3. Can’t seem to change the font of the field hints ( example for email “E.g. [joe@doe.com](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/customizing-some-form-elements/joe@doe.com?output_format=md)”)
    4. Can’t seem to change font size, colour, etc. of “Submitting . . .” message.
    5. Can’t seem to change appearance of post-submission message using Forminator
       controls but I think that can/should be done using HTML – correct?
 * I think I don’t have a good understanding of the global, form, Forminator Styles
   and Basic Styles work and that may be THE problem.
 * I’ve not yet committed to a paid/supported version and I’m curious about what
   your designs are like. Any way you can provide snap-shots?
 * Cheers,
   Roy

 * Hello [@roypaulsinn](https://wordpress.org/support/users/roypaulsinn/)
 * Hope you’re doing well today! Thank you for reaching out to us.
 * 1. For Field Error message:
    To customise the colours and font for the fields
   you can navigate to the Forminator Form >> Appearance, there you will notice
   options to customise the Font Sizes as well as colours.
 * To target the field colours, you will need to toggle on the “Customize colors”
   option and define the colours in the “fields basics” setting.
 * To target the font size, you can set the fonts to custom and navigate to the “
   Fields Error Message” Setting.
 * You can refer to our documentation about it here:
    Customising colours: [https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#customize-colors](https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#customize-colors)
   Customising fonts: [https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#fonts](https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#fonts)
   ===
 * 2. For the Dropdown Select:
    Can you please confirm if you were able to try changing
   the colours from the Forminator Form >> Appearance >> Colour >> Customise Colours
   >> “Select” and “Dropdown List” options? Please refer to the screenshot here:
   [https://monosnap.com/file/Qk4CozoBeEtd1UFnIQMFXlsM6BUwAy](https://monosnap.com/file/Qk4CozoBeEtd1UFnIQMFXlsM6BUwAy)
 * For the AM/PM, it is a dropdown list too, so it will take the same colours that
   you define under the “Dropdown List”
 * Here is a reference from our documentation: [https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#customize-colors](https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#customize-colors)

   ===
 * 3. For changing the font placeholder, it is not possible to change this only
   for field hints, as it will take the settings that are used for “Inputs and Text
   Area”. Please refer to the screenshot here: [https://monosnap.com/file/fPnw22XVFHFdSlznHnHW5fx0A9REeZ](https://monosnap.com/file/fPnw22XVFHFdSlznHnHW5fx0A9REeZ)

   ===
 * 4. For the submitting response,
    To handle the colours for the submission and
   response success you will need to define the colours for the Submission indicator
   and response success/Error fields, ref: [https://monosnap.com/file/9Dl7OZOXQjQfV782Al5UVfrGsz5JDg](https://monosnap.com/file/9Dl7OZOXQjQfV782Al5UVfrGsz5JDg)
 * To handle the font size, you can refer to the screenshot here: [https://monosnap.com/file/0emOIE4LILNjaFg9hxKKeZW26lcUoW](https://monosnap.com/file/0emOIE4LILNjaFg9hxKKeZW26lcUoW)
 * Could you please confirm if it is not working for you? I tested on my lab site
   and it seem to be working fine. Please note, if you already tried changing the
   colours and font sizes, please also make sure to clear caches and check if the
   modifications are appearing fine.
    ====
 * 5. Could you please confirm if you are referring to the message which appears
   if the form is submitted successfully or if the submission fails? If so, it can
   be handled via the “response success” and “response error” modules as mentioned
   in the 4th point above.
 * Overall, to consolidate, while checking the issues, I was able to make checks
   on my lab site regarding the points you’ve mentioned above, and those seem to
   be working fine on my lab site, in case some of them are not working for you,
   you can see if clearing caches helps. Also, most of the customisations revolve
   around the colors and fonts, for this you can refer to our documentation below:
 * Customising colours: [https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#customize-colors](https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#customize-colors)

   Customising fonts: [https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#fonts](https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#fonts)
 * Please let us know if you have any questions/queries.
 * Kind Regards,
    Saurabh

 * Saurabh! Thank you for the prompt and comprehensive reply. Very Helpful.
 * 1. I’ll review your instructions and make sure I’ve done and saved everything
   correctly.
 * 2. Odd that I was able to changed the attributes of a custom dropdown list and
   not the time dropdown list. Sounds like changing the attributes of dropdown lists
   should apply to ALL dropdown lists. I will investigate.
 * 3. Good to know there’s no separate attribute for a field hint – a minor thing
   and I don’t need to be chasing after a something I can’t change.
 * 4. Thanks – I’ll try changing the attributes of submission and response success
   and let you know.
 * 5. Yes – I’m referring to the message that pops up after hitting the Submit button
   and after the “Processing …” status message. It’s the message defined by the
   form’s rich-text box in Behaviour > Submission Behaviour > After Submission.
   It looks like I should be defining the attributes within the rich-text box. That
   works for me.

 * Hi [@roypaulsinn](https://wordpress.org/support/users/roypaulsinn/)

   > lists should apply to ALL dropdown lists. I will investigate.
 * I tested it on my lab site and “Dropdown List” changed the time dropdown just
   fine, I checked your form [https://monosnap.com/file/z2GTjHUPszILVFk9phBUnFHTSnGpyp](https://monosnap.com/file/z2GTjHUPszILVFk9phBUnFHTSnGpyp)
   but it seems you are not using the “Forminator Styles” correct?
 * That style is the native browser select and can’t be changed, when using “Forminator
   Styles” we replace those using Select2 to create a custom select feature and
   that’s why we can customise it.
 * Best Regards
