# Cystats Visitcounter patch

 * I’ve created a patch for cystats 0.9.8. The original version calculates for any
   first hit a visit. IMHO this is to optimistic. I found a lot of articles with
   the same opinion: cystats calculates to many visits.
 * My patch calculates hits as visits at the second hit (only at the second hit).
   The patch needs one query to detect “hit is not visit || hit may be a visit” 
   and a second to detect “hit is a visit”.

 * The patch is more pessimistic than it should be. But it was the easiest way to
   integrate the patch.

   know how to reach the author of CyStats?

 * Also, it seems like the “visits” are not how many unique people visit the website,
   but how many times a new page is loaded. I just went back and forth between a
   few pages and there’s already 27 visits within a few seconds…

 * Something is obviously wrong with this plugin. I refreshed the admin cystat panel
   a few times, and each time the unique visitor counter goes +1, +1, ….
