The plugin has been running fine for several months now, but the last few backups appear to only have a handful of files in them when I list them, and when I try to decompress them, I get a ‘damaged TAR archive’ message. Interestingly, the size of the TAR file looks right, and would be way too large for the number of files it says it contains.

I am on Bluehost, and when I run the backup manually, I get 0 warnings and 0 errors, the log looks clean, but I still get an apparently corrupt TAR file.

    Any guidance is appreciated.

No, as I mentioned, 0 warnings, 0 errors, and the log generated looks normal as far as I can tell. I’ve pasted it below.

The archive file appears to be the correct size, but when I list the files in the archive, I see only a subset of them (no wp-content directory for example) and when I try to decompress it, only these files are recreated, with a message saying ‘damaged TAR archive’. (I’m a linux user.)

Thanks again for any help you can provide. Up until I noticed this issue, the plugin was working perfectly for me.

OK, thanks for looking into it. Let me try decompressing it on a different machine to see if that makes a difference. I’ll report back.

Interestingly, last night’s weekly backup is good, unpacks everything without an error. I also ran this job manually this morning after upgrading the WordPress core, and that file was also good.

So, this seems to have been a transient issue that hopefully won’t return. A little worrying all the same…
