 * I accidently deleted my data base but my host has restored it. But now the WP
   site does not work.
 * Apparently the connection between the WP files and the data base is broken.
 * Are there other steps that I must take to get things back where they were? Everything
   was working perfectly.

 * Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s
   folder in wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using
   [FTP](http://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients) or whatever file management application
   your host provides.
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or phpMyAdmin.
 * – re-uploading all files & folders – **except** the wp-content folder – from
   a **fresh** download of WordPress.

 * Thank you for your quick and concerned response. I can see how these might do
   the trick.
 * I explained the problem to my host – expecting to be told that they are not responsible
   for third party software problems, but …!!!! they fixed it. Perhaps the problem
   was their fault when they replaced the data base.
 * All is well.
