 * I’ve just installed WordPress on my site hosted by CrystalTech, and setup a MySQL
   DB to host it…. I can’t get install.php to run correctly, I get the following
   error:
 * <Quote>
    We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username
   and password is okay) but not able to select the “DBName” database.
 * Are you sure it exists?
    On some systems the name of your database is prefixed
   with your username, so it would be like username_wordpress. Could that be the
   problem? </quote>
 * I’ve tried numerous options for the db name and hostname etc. but I get the same
   error whatever I do…. can anyone help?

 * The database you have created, and the name you have entered are not connected–
   hence the error.
 * You need to use the webhosting panel to make that connection.
 * If you use cpanel / vdeck or plesk, information is here:

   If not, post back ?

 * I’ve got a username and password setup and included in wp-config.php – I’m using
   the CrystalTech management tools / control panel so it looks a bit different
   to cpanel / plesk / vdesk
 * As far as I can see it’s all configured like it would be if I used one of these
   tools – but I can’t be 100% sure.
 * Any other ideas?

 * Hi,
 * When you’ve created your DB in the CrystalTech Control Panel, return to the “
   MySQL Admin” which lists the info about your DBs. The second column contains
   something like “MySQLxx.webcontrolcenter.com” where “xx” is a number. This is
   the name of the DB server that you need to configure as the DB_HOST in the wp-
   config.php file.
 * Works for me – hope it does for you too…
