# Database crashed?

 * Hi,
 * I ran WP-Optimize on a local WordPress installation and then got an “Error establishing
   a database connection”message.
 * WordPress tried to help me out by offering to repair the database, and I did 
   try that. After clicking the WordPress repair button, I was given the following
   error with instructions to post on this forum for assistance. The error was:
 * wp_users: Table is marked as crashed and last repair failed
    wp_usermeta: Table
   is marked as crashed and last repair failed wp_posts: Table is marked as crashed
   and last repair failed wp_options: Table is marked as crashed and last repair
   failed wp_postmeta: Table is marked as crashed and last repair failed wp_terms:
   Table is marked as crashed and last repair failed wp_term_taxonomy: Table is 
   marked as crashed and last repair failed wp_term_relationships: Table is marked
   as crashed and last repair failed
 * I do have access to the tables via PHPMyAdmin, but I do not know where to start
   to make fixes, or even if a fix is possible.
 * Can anyone lend any insight to how to repair the DB tables?

 * Phpmyadmin probably won’t repair tables if the last repair failed by that plugin;
   you need to use mysqlcheck on the command line. See [http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2011/12/mysqlcheck/](http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2011/12/mysqlcheck/)
