# Database error

 * Hi all,
 * Recently upgraded to WP 2.6 and now get this message when trying to access my
   site ([http://www.footballingworld.com](http://www.footballingworld.com)):
 * Error establishing a database connection
 * This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.
   php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This
   could mean your host’s database server is down.
 * Can anyone assist me?
 * Thanks.

 * Actually you wouldn’t have to edit wp-config at all unless you were upgrading
   from a version that didn’t use the secret keys and if you DID edit it you’d do
   it BEFORE you upgraded, not after. Perhaps what Ogre was trying to say is: Did
   you enter the correct info in the config file or upload the old one?
