# Database Error

 * I run my hobby/business on a wordpress website but when I go to go onto it, both
   as admin and as a visitor, It comes up with a message saying “Error establishing
   a database connection” and then when I go to visit the page it comes up with 
   the same message.
 * I don’t have wordpress installed on my computer, I just use it through the internet.
 * How can I fix this issue?

 * I am having the same issue. What is happening? This is for a non-profit and we
   post daily. Please advise how to fix this issue or if it is something WordPress
   is working on?

 * This error (in both cases…) means that the database connection settings in your
   sites wp-config.php file are incorrect. You will need ot get the right settings
   and edit the wp-config file to contain the correct settings.

 * but how do I get there if I cannot access the site?

 * You don’t access that file through the site. You need to use an FTP program to
   do it. There’s more information about that [here](http://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients).
