 * Earlier today all of a sudden my site went down with a database error:
    [http://www.athleticsweekly.com/](http://www.athleticsweekly.com/)
 * > Error establishing a database connection
 * When I try to go to the admin panel, it says:
 * > Error establishing a database connection
   > This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.
   > php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at 213.171.200.66.
   > This could mean your host’s database server is down.
   > Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
   >  Are you sure that
   > you have typed the correct hostname? Are you sure that the database server
   > is running?
   > If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host.
   > If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.
 * I’ve checked all the things mentioned and it’s still not working. I got in touch
   with the support desk of our hosts, and they said:
 * > We tried to login to your database and we got this error message.
   > #1203 – User aw_temp already has more than ‘max_user_connections’ active connections
   > This seems to be one of the reasons why the database failure is displaying.
   > We referred your case to your engineers and was told that this has something
   > to do with your scripts. You need to check them to ensure that they are closing
   > the connections properly or else this is going to keep happening from time
   > to time.
 * Can anyone tell me – in plain English (because I’m not exactly an expert with
   this kinda stuff) – what exactly I need to do to rectify this?
 * Thanks in advance.

   They may be experiencing problems at their end.

 * Thanks, that’s what I did (see the last few paragraphs of my initial post for
   their response).

 * It appears to have fixed itself now.
