# Database Error – can't select database

 * My site was working 100% fine when suddenly last night I am prompted with an 
   error message when I try to login…
 * _“Can’t select database
    We were able to connect to the database server (which
   means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the medievc2\
   _wor2 database.
 * Are you sure it exists?
    Does the user medievc2_wor2 have permission to use the
   medievc2_wor2 database? On some systems the name of your database is prefixed
   with your username, so it would be like username_medievc2_wor2. Could that be
   the problem?”
 * I checked with the host of the site and everything is completely fine, nothing
   has been changed recently. Any ideas on what to do? This came out of nowhere.
 * When you go to the site you see this: **Error establishing a database connection**

 * In the MySQL settings part of your hosting account’s control panel, make sure
   that the user medievc2_wor2 have permission to use the medievc2_wor2 database.
 * Also, make sure that the username and password are correct, and that both are
   recorded correctly in your wp-config.php file.
 * If phpMyAdmin is available in your hosting account’s control panel, also see 
   if you can access the database using the same username and password you entered
   into wp-config.php.
 * If all of the above is correct, you will need to ask your hosting provider to
   sort this out for you.
