 * I had a strange prolem this morning: my wordpress database seems to have reset
   to an earlier point.
 * I’ve no errors in the mysql or apache logs, but having posted something at about
   midnight, it disappeared after 8am.
 * I can see http 200 requests for the post in question, and after 9am they become
   404 errors.
 * I’m not even sure where to start looking for answers, what should I be googling?

 * Ask your host. It sounds like they might have restored an earlier version of
   your database.

 * Thanks for the reply, but it a virtual machine (I have root access), and my host
   they hasn’t touched it. Nothing else seems to be affected, it didn’t crash or
   go down, which is what I would expect if the host had been involved.

 * Load up phpmyadmin or the mysql client and look in the database to see if the
   post is actually there or not.
 * WordPress can’t reset the database, but something else might have.

 * A virtual host can crash, too. Perhaps your host has set up an earlier version?

 * Ach, I think I’ve worked it out. It wasn’t a database thing, it’s a browser thing.
 * I’d had the post open in Firefox at work, closed the browser and went home and
   finished it there. When I came into work and open the browser, it opened the
   cached version.
 * I”m certain I didn’t press save or publish, but I must have somehow saved the
   old version (pre-publish).
 * Something to watch out for I think!
 * Sorry for the confusion.
