 * I asked this because there was no records added in the dashboard when I had sandbox
   on.

 * When I made payment through sandbox? No, no records appeared.

 * That means the plugin didn’t even receive any notification from PayPal. Try the
   PayPal IPN simulator to see if your site can receive notification from PayPal.
