# DataTables Warning – Cannot reinitialise DataTable

 * For some reason, after updating TablePress & WP, I am getting the following warning:
 * DataTables warning: table id=tablepress-4 – Cannot reinitialise DataTable. For
   more information about this error, please see [http://datatables.net/tn/3](http://datatables.net/tn/3)
 * The strange thing is, the warning only appears when NOT logged in to Admin. When
   logged in – no warning when viewed on same device.
 * I have deactivated/reactivated all other plugins with no change.
 * The tables do contain shortcodes w quotation marks for the WP Simple Shopping
   Cart – but deactivating this plugin did not stop the errors.

 * thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.
 * The reason for this could be that your theme is loading its own (but very outdated)
   version of the jQuery JS library, instead of using the up-to-date one that ships
   with WordPress.
    For details on this, please see [http://tablepress.org/faq/js-functions-not-working/](http://tablepress.org/faq/js-functions-not-working/)
   I suggest to fix that in the theme, so that the correct version is used.
 * Then, as your tables are pretty small: Do you actually want the JS features on
   these tables? If so, they should work after the fix from above. If not, I suggest
   to simply turn them off, which will also get rid of the error message.

   I did not notice. Thanks – easy fix.

 * no problem, you are very welcome! 🙂 Good to hear that this helped!
    You should
   still fix that wrong version of the jQuery library in the theme (with the suggestions
   from my link from above). Otherwise, you’ll be running into issues like this 
   again in the future, also with other plugins.
