Date Format Setting Box Missing?

Hello! I’m trying to adjust the date format for the widget which is pulling recent posts into the sidebar on my site (instead of slashes “/” I want periods “.”).
For some reason I don’t see the “date format” input box under my settings for the widget which would allow me to edit the format (the last thing in the settings panel is the checkbox for “Display Date” which is checked). I have the latest version of the plugin, but it’s just that section that doesn’t show up. Not sure what went wrong…
