 * Do I need to delete wp-config.php after install? It’s odd to me that all of the
   config info, with password is available to the world.

 * No. Do not delete this file. It’s not available to the world, if you try to navigate
   directly to the file in your browser’s address bar you’ll see that you can’t 
   get to it.

 * If your site is installed in the public_html (or equivalent) you can move wp-
   config.php up a level – i.e. out of the public_html, so it isn’t readable if 
   php stops
