Did you submit your feed to those services?
The Destinations tab in PowerPress has links for how to get on those platforms. The blank in the settings is for your listing ON that service once they have listed your show.
See: https://youtu.be/NIiRg059zSk for how it works.
Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I submitted my feed to all of those locations (which is how I got my podcast link for each of them to begin with). I’ll watch the video to make sure I didn’t miss anything.
Once I have this configured, I shouldn’t need to manually go to each and force some kind of refresh, right?
To confirm, I watched the video and did indeed do the steps outlined.
Cool, All the directories and apps PULL your feed, so it’s not instant. You do not have to do anything to get them to refresh once they have your feed.
All Podcast Directories and Apps run off your RSS feed. When you update your feed with a new episode, the directories, Apps and Subscribers all check the RSS feed to see if something is new. This is not instant.
People get the wrong impression that your RSS feed PUSHES out to everyone. It does not. ALL these places and your subscribers PULL your feed. It asks for your feed when it gets around to it and PULLS your feed to update your listing. Your subscribers subscribe to your feed and after that never really touch Apple Podcasts or the other services again. They are just subscribed to your feed directly in their app of choice. As long as when you publish an episode, you get it if you are subscribed, everything is working. It works the same as every other directory or app. (other than Spotify currently)
There is nothing we or you can do to make that faster. It takes whatever time it takes. To check your RSS feed to make sure it’s working and which episodes are in it, go to CastFeedValidator.com and put your RSS feed address in the box and validate. That should show you what is in the feed and as long as the episode you are looking for is there, it will get to all the directories and apps in time.
I just want you to understand, there is nothing wrong with your feed, anything blubrry is doing or anything you are doing. It’s all based on when your RSS gets pulled by these places. The important part is your feed is up to date and the rest of the world will update it when they want to. We can’t force them (unfortunately).
Thanks. I’m familiar with the mechanics of RSS, but figured I’d post here as a sanity check given I am new to this plugin. Really appreciate the prompt responses.
Well thanks for downloading and using PowerPress! 🙂
