 * I’m porting an old non-Wordpress static site over to WordPress, recreating each
   page individually as I go (I don’t trust the old code enough to just import it
   all).
    I’m developing the new site on the same host as the old one, just using
   a spare url I have. I have lots of images, which I will again add individually
   to the relevant pages, but it seems that I just have to be prepared to go through
   the new site, once its finished and the proper url assigned, and change all the
   file locations for the images. OK, there may be plugins available to help, but
   it all seems rather primitive, and the site will have to be unavailable for a
   period while I do it. Further down the line, when I want to make major changes
   to the site, I shall presumably have to do something similar, as I’ll not be
   happy working on the live site. Is there any way round this ?

 * Hi.
    You could install WP locally on your computer, and then put the site online
   qhen you are done with everything. [Here](http://wpmu.org/10-ways-to-set-up-a-testing-environment-for-wordpress/)
   is a rather comprehensive tutorial with several ways you can go about this. Cheers!
