Difficulties Backing Up WordPress

    I’m having trouble backing up my WordPress website and wondering if someone might have some time to walk me through this. I’ve actually tried several back-up plugins (all the most popular and best rated ones) but can’t seem to tell if I’m actually doing it right. It is a decent size site (>400 pages/posts) and I wonder if that isn’t causing the problem.

    I had been running the WordPress Database Backup plug-in for a long time. But I’m not sure it has ever successfully backed me up. I had it set to send me an email copy, but I’ve never actually gotten one. So I decided to try some other plugins, including WP Complete Backup, Updraft Plus Backup/Restore, and BackWPup. None of them seem to work.

    How can I tell if I’ve been putting backups onto the server (hosted at Godaddy)? Is my site too big to get email backups, even to a Gmail account?

    Any suggestions?
