# Difficulty Updating WordPress Version

 * Hello,
 * I’m looking for help updating the WordPress version.
 * It’s currently on 5.7.6, though I know there are newer versions. When I go into
   Tools -> Site Health, it says “We were unable to check if any new versions of
   WordPress are available. Check for updates manually.”
 * When I click on “Check for updates manually,” it takes me to “Word Press Updates”
   and says, “Current version: 5.7.6 Last checked on April 19, 2022 at 11:14 am.
   Check again.”
 * When I click “check again,” it simply refreshes page.
 * How do I update Word Press now ?
 * Thanks in advance.

 * **First of all, Backup your WordPress site!**
 * You can upgrade by manually upload and replace WordPress files.The latest version
   is available at [https://wordpress.org/download/](https://wordpress.org/download/)
 * For existing site, you do not want to replace the “wp-content” directory. You
   can download the WordPress no-content version. Example: [https://wordpress.org/wordpress-5.9.3-no-content.zip](https://wordpress.org/wordpress-5.9.3-no-content.zip)
 * Unzip the file then upload & replace your WordPress files via FTP.
