Yes, I’m aware of their support page but I’m not a paying customer, I’m a free user.
2 years ago I began using Updaft and I regretfully enabled 2FA but didn’t keep the emergency codes then.
Is there any other way to disable it or contacting support without paying the hefty fee?

Use of UpdraftPlus to take backups doesn’t involve logging into an updraftplus.com account. Is there a backup problem you are having? If so, what are its symptoms?

yes, you’re absolutely right. I’ve successfully backed up my site without logging in.
but now I’d like to have access to my updraft account again, possible? Because I have multiple sites so I love to have centralized control of my backups.

OK, so you’re using UpdraftCentral? The form to re-establish identity is here: https://updraftplus.com/support/re-establish-identity/ , which gathers some details to authenticate you.
This is required because the account owner (presumably you!) has indicated that they wish the account to be locked with a second factor, so we require some authentication to protect the account (otherwise, if anyone on the Internet could just ask to remove the second factor, then it’d be pointless).
