    Hello everyone,

I use this plugin to create buttons to my social media accounts. This plugin, however, also installs trackers from Facebook, Google+ and Twitter.

Is there a way to delete these trackers? These are not necessary to create a icon with a link to a social media page.

    Thank you in advance!

    Thank you for your question.

The “trackers” you are talking about are the embedded codes from the social media platforms to allow sharing.

If you don’t want those embedded codes, you can either:

    – Only give icons a “visit us”-functionality
    – Wait until we replaced the embedded codes with one-link sharing solutions for the free plugins (which is on our to do list)
    – Get this plugin https://www.ultimatelysocial.com/usm-premium/ where we can set it up for you (i.e. you can share without using embedded codes)

Please also have a look at https://www.ultimatelysocial.com/gdpr/

Thank you for your quick reply!

The trackers appear as soon as I activate the plugin. Even when I’m not using the icons on my website. For Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube I only use the “Visit us” functionality and nothing else. Which means: 4 icons in the sidebar and when clicked on it opens our social media pages.

However, it still activates those trackers. So the first option does not seem to work for me, or do I need to do something else?

Maybe a cahce issue – do you have any cache plugins installed, or other server-side caching?

I have no caching plugins installed. When I deactivate the plugin, the trackers disappear immediatly. When the plugin is activated the tracker re-appear again. This also happens when I don’t use the widget in the sidebar.

About server-side caching I’m not sure… not that I know of.

Ok, strange case. Developers say you must have activated a feature related to those codes. Did you only place the round icons on your site, or somehwere also the rectangle icons?

I only placed those round icons in the sidebar. I have not used any other features of the plugin. What feature in the plugin could cause this? Then I can maybe look for it in the settings.

It works. When hovering over the icon it does say SOCIALICON instead of the social media, but it works for now. I’ll be awaiting the the update that fixes it! πŸ™‚

Solved that last problem as well πŸ™‚ Now it says the right names. Thank you!

@socialdude I’ve deleted your offer to login to your user’s site. I’m am 100% sure you mean well but please never ask for credentials on these forums.

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then you the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.

Please be aware that repeatedly asking for credentials will result in us asking you to repeatedly stop before escalating up to the plugins team.
