All I want to do is display specific posts in certain places on various page.
I have been looking for shortcodes but the only plugin I could find has been abandoned. There will be hundreds of posts in the future and each one needs to be individually inserted into the correct section of each page. So I can’t do it by categories. I would rather do it via ID. Please can anyone suggest how to do this?

I finally found the answer after being told elsewhere that it wasn’t possible. It has taken me ages so in case this helps anyone else this is what to do:-

    1. Install plugin List Category Posts by Fernando Briano https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/list-category-posts/

    2. Follow the documentation on Github (https://github.com/picandocodigo/List-Category-Posts) and tutorial on Sundari webdesign which both explains how to display individual posts using shortcuts. Here is an example [catlist includeposts=”2,97″]
You can create templates and use css to style as you wish.

    Hope this helps someone.
