# Do NOT replace original files?

 * What is meant by:
 * > Do NOT replace the original prism.css and prism.js, you will lose all your 
   > changes as they get overwritten when updating the plugin!
 * The installation procedure requires these files to be replaced, so…
 * Does this mean that existing code would not display correctly if the plugin was
   updated and the same prism.css and prism.js files (i.e. before the update) are
   re-added to the plugin directory?
 * Or does it just mean that you should keep a backup copy of your prism.css and
   prism.js files?
 * What happens if you need an ‘additional language’; can you update (extend) the
   prism.css and prism.js files you are currently using without problems?
