 * Hi, I’m just starting with Envira and have a very simple gallery on my home page.
   The performance tool GTmetirx says the following for this page :
 * > The following images are resized in HTML or CSS. Serving scaled images could
   > save 167.5KiB (84% reduction).
   > [https://www.rondowd.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Mazurka-800-min.jpg](https://www.rondowd.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Mazurka-800-min.jpg)
   > is resized in HTML or CSS from 800×569 to 316×225. Serving a scaled image could
   > save 95.0KiB (84% reduction).

   > is resized in HTML or CSS from 800×572 to 316×226. Serving a scaled image could
   > save 72.5KiB (84% reduction).
 * Does this mean that Envira resizes the Gallery images on the fly using HTML?
   If so, what is the point of being able to choose a pre-existing thumbnail in
   the gallery Configuration “image Size” pulldown? I assumed it would serve these
   thumbnails already in my WordPress Media.
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fdoes-envira-do-html-image-resizing%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)
   to see the link]_

 * Hi [@rondowd](https://wordpress.org/support/users/rondowd/), if you’ve enabled
   the Crop Images? on the Configuration tab, Envira would use a hard cropped image.
   If this isn’t enabled, then CSS is used to resize the image.
 * Please let us know if we can help with anything else.
