Does not work
-
Hi, this looks more like a support request than a review. If you can provide more information about the issue, maybe we can help 😉
Probably IPv6 issue => useless plugin
Yes, Slimstat DOES NOT currently work with IPv6. That’s because both PHP and MySQL offer limited support for IPv6, unless we require certain versions of both. Which would probably leave half of our users out of luck 🙂
In Slimstat 4.0 we dared to introduce a function that is only supported in PHP 5.3, since that’s officially our minimum requirement. But if you take a look at the forums, many many people came here complaining that Slimstat had broken their website. Why? Because they were using PHP 5.2.
Now, inet_pton and inet_ntop require PHP 5.1, and certain functions to store that data in MYSQL require a quite recent version of the DBMS, 5.6. We don’t feel comfortable, at this stage, forcing our 100,000 users to have those versions installed, since IPv6 is not that widespread just yet.
However, to your point, if you DO have those versions of PHP and MySQL, you can hack Slimstat to make it work with IPv6.
Peace,
Camu@hasilpetr If you do want support then please consider posting to the support sub-forum instead.
I don’t need a support. This plugin is just useless.
Would you use an email client that works only with com domain?First learn to speak English correctly. Then, when you find an analytics software that works with IPv6 that is free and doesn’t sell your data to telemarketers by keeping your data on their servers, please let us know, so that we can take a look at how they do it 😉 In the meanwhile, we’re happy not to have you among our users.
I wonder how Jan Dembowski and other moderators can tolerate sock puppets to this extent 🙁 This is not the first time that users with no activity at all, just create an account to give a negative rating to our software, and then they evaporate in a cloud of hot air. Not cool, mods, not cool.
Camu, We have much better ways of detected whether an account is a sock puppet than just looking at the frequency of its forum activity.
@andrew, I’m sure you do, but do you concur that calling this comment here above a review is a bit of a stretch? 🙂
Why didn’t you mention in description that this plugin doesn’t work with IPv6? It is the most important thing! I had to figure out on my own. I thought I have real stats not some random numbers…
Actually, I spoke with the developer, and there might be a way to implement an add-on that enables IPv6 support in Slimstat. See? If you would have asked nicely and made it a support request like Jan recommended here above, things could have been resolved in a much friendlier way. But you are just a rude person with a very negative attitude. And you don’t even bother to do your little research. Just by googling “Slimstat IPv6”, this comes up in first place on the SERP:
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/plugin-wp-slimstat-ipv6-support
and this comes up too:
But no, his Majesty cannot be bothered to use his royal fingers to type on a plebeian keyboard. His Majesty, with his broken English, can only write “Slimstat useless”. Yes, sure. A plugin used on more than one hundred thousand websites is useless. Really?
Oh, btw, His Majesty bashes Slimstat, but uses it on His Royal website 🙂 He doesn’t practice what he preaches:
Okay, I’ve wasted enough time on His Majesty. May I excuse myself and go spend my time on doing something more productive?
How am I supposed to know it doesn’t support IPv6? I find out it by accident. Obviously hundred thousand users don’t even know what IPv6 is.
Sure, blame anybody else. You just don’t have any argument. Learn English is really good one… You can hack it is another one.
Why there is still no word about it in description?!His Majesty will be pleased to know that we’ve decided to add IPv6 support in to Slimstat 4.1.3.
Thank you for making Slimstat a better product 🙂
