Does Photon break links?

I configured Photon to deliver images faster to my viewers. Now all my posts are broken. I am using a child theme of Gridly. It worked this morning and then all of a sudden links to posts from the home page redirect to error message. I inspected the element and discovered that the images are from a new source and still link to the correct post on my site.

When I activate 2013 theme the posts display correctly (sort of).

Is there a time period for links to regenerate or something?
If I disable Photon, is there a long start up period that i’ll have to wait?

I love the idea of my big images being hosted somewhere faster and closer to viewers.
