Does the IP allow list allow comments?

    I have a few IP addresses which are on the allow list, and have put each of them on a new line.
    1.2.3.4
    2.3.4.5
    etc.
    1) Can I add comments to the list so I can remember who is who?
    2) Does the list support CIDR notation eg 3.4.5.0/24 or wildcards 3.4.5.*

    I’m also missing the comments on the list ips. I was about to ask the same thing, and I will appreciate an answer.

    BTW: you can safely specify ranges like this:
    3.4.5.[0-24] or 3.4.5.0-3.4.5.24

    Hi @peripatetic, thanks for your questions.

    You can specify ranges using CIDR notation like 1.2.3.4/24, and also 1.2.3.[1-100] or 1.2.3.1-1.2.3.100. You can’t specify wildcards at this time.

    Comments have been requested previously (thanks @clip1492), which was promptly added as a development request in our internal issue tracker. I’ve made sure to note this topic there too. We generally can’t provide ongoing updates about the status of potential features, although priority can be affected if a request seems popular with many Wordfence customers.

    I’ll just note here that we do mark topics such as this as “resolved” on the forums after a period of time, but feature requests remain an open case internally.
