 * I’m trying to figure out where the Mail delivery failed email messages are coming
   from.

 * Hope you are doing great. 🙂
 * I would like to update you that Email Subscribers use wp_mail to send emails.
   So, by default it sends email from the default email address according to your
   host/site.
 * However, if you use any SMTP plugin to send emails it will send it accordingly.

   email addresses are also not in my list, neither the domain that was ‘attacked’:

 * Yes, we did not receive any complaints about these emails in the past and I have
   no clue about these emails. Also, Email Subscribers sends emails to only subscribers
   present in Email Subscribers -> Subscribers please do have a recheck there for
   these emails once.
