There is no exception for PNG and it is expected to work just like every other image type. Can you please give it another try and see?
If it still exists, I wonder what it could be. Hmm. Please tell me more about your setup. Are there any other plugins that process images?

Hi Arun,
Yes we use Imagify for images. You think disabling that would help? We’ve already run the plugin on this site, and I think only the Pro version lets you selectively edit, so I’ll have to wait to test this on a new site. Look forward to hearing if you think that will make a difference, thanks.

You could try uploading a new PNG to the existing site to see if they are excluded somehow. If so, try disabling Imagify temporarily and then upload a PNG again please.
I have tested the plugin with Imagify (I used to work for WP Media in the past), and never noticed an issue. But just in case.

The new upload worked. We won’t be able to test the bulk update of existing images (our initial problem) until we optimize the new site. I’ll post back when that happens.
Thank you Alex. If it works for new uploads, there must be something else that is causing the issue. We will sort it out one way or the other 🙂
