 * It works with EWWWW Image Optimizer plugin. I had Autoptimize and had to find
   another to continue to use the carousel.

 * Autoptimize main job is JS/ CSS optimization (although it also can do image opt.
   and some other stuff), which EWWW does not do, so EWWW does not really replace
   AO [@shwebb15](https://wordpress.org/support/users/shwebb15/) 🙂
 * [@laliz](https://wordpress.org/support/users/laliz/) try adding `plugins/carousel-
   slider` to the comma-separated JS optimization exclusion list maybe. if it still
   does not work, what JS errors do you see on the browser console?

 * Thanks for the reply.
 * i disabled Autoptimize for the website as slider was more important for client
   🙂

 * Well, some more troubleshooting would most certainly allow you (and your client)
   to keep on using AO 🙂
 * First and foremost try to identify what is breaking your site by just disabling
   CSS or JS or Image optimization (incl. lazyload). Once you know that, dive in
   and try identify what code/ files (CSS or JS) are responsible for the broken
   feature and try excluding that. If the problem is with JS, chances are you’ll
   find useful information on your browser’s developer console. There’s more info
   in the troubleshooting tips and info on exclusions in [the AO FAQ](https://wordpress.org/plugins/autoptimize/#faq).
 * hope this helps,
    frank
